The term ‘artificial intelligence’ (AI) still arouses suspicion among many. I understand that. We are inundated with messages about risks, ethical dilemmas and science fiction-like doom scenarios. Of course, we must remain critical and think carefully about the use of new technology. But what I see in the practice of disability care is something very different from fear and controversy. I see energy, passionate people and applications that can really make a big difference.

During the presentation of the Pioneers Award in April, this became crystal clear once again. With a short description of three of the four nominees, I would like to show how AI does not work in an alienating way, but rather in a connecting, strengthening and enlightening way.

Floow.ai wins Pioneers Award

At the recent Pioneers Awards, Floow.ai was recognised as the winner in the Innovation category for its groundbreaking approach to workplace learning in healthcare. The jury praised Floow.ai for bridging the gap between vocational education (MBO) and care organisations, enabling faster and more efficient onboarding through AI-driven training modules, practical exercises, and in-app certification. With this recognition, Floow.ai stands out as a key player in reshaping how healthcare professionals learn and grow—without adding pressure to supervisors.
